Our vision

Our vision

Our vision is to help create resilient, inclusive and thriving town centres and high streets that are the beating hearts of local life – places where communities connect, businesses flourish, and civic pride is restored.

Our mission statement

Our mission

Our mission is to transform town centres through locally-led, evidence-based action that empowers businesses, communities and other stakeholders to build capacity, and delivers visible, long-lasting change.

We work in close partnership with local businesses, authorities and other partners to deliver transformative, stakeholder-led interventions, grounded in evidence – active, practical interventions that enhance place vitality, support inclusive economic growth, strengthen the social fabric of our high streets and town centres, and deliver long-term impact.

Our core values

Our values

We believe:

  • People First – We believe that local people are the greatest asset to any place. We prioritise lived experience, local knowledge and community voice in everything we do.
  • Place Matters – Every high street is different, shaped by its history, character and community. We take a place-based approach that respects context and champions local identity.
  • Action Over Rhetoric – We focus on doing, not just talking. Our work is grounded in practical, visible action that drives measurable change and builds trust.
  • Partnership & Co-Design – Real change is collaborative. We work alongside communities, businesses, councils and partners to co-create solutions that are rooted in shared ownership and long-term stewardship.
  • Equity & Inclusion – We are committed to creating flourishing town centres where everyone can thrive, regardless of background, income, age or identity.
  • Courage to Challenge – We’re not afraid to question the status quo. We push for bold, systemic solutions, not just cosmetic fixes, even when that means having difficult conversations.
  • Learning & Adaptability – Every project is a chance to learn. We embrace feedback, evaluate impact, and adapt our approach to ensure lasting relevance and value.
  • Sustainability & Resilience – We think long-term. Our work supports environmental, economic and social sustainability, helping places thrive now and for future generations.

Our delivery

Our delivery

This means tackling issues of governance and place management, social cohesion, low high street vitality and viability, and high rates of vacancy and antisocial behaviour in high streets, using measurable actions within defined local geographies.

The High Street Consultancy delivers change through:

  • Partnerships and local leadership: Support for forming neighbourhood boards or local vehicles for change, stressing that real empowerment and agency must sit with local people, businesses and organisations.
  • Evidence-based frameworks: A flexible operational framework rather than a prescriptive model, ensuring that place-based solutions fit each area’s unique needs and resources.
  • Capacity building: An emphasis on local training, leadership and skills development, to ensure sustainable impact beyond baseline improvements.
  • Focus on practical outcomes: The High Street Consultancy stresses measurable results, such as strong local participation, enterprise creation, good social cohesion, and a positive legacy, as opposed to cosmetic or short-lived projects.

Our ways of working:

  • Challenging the status quo: The High Street Consultancy aims to be provocative in its thinking, encouraging clients to move beyond traditional governance and “hanging basket” interventions.
  • Collaborative design: Solutions are co-developed with communities, not imposed one-size-fits-all answers.
  • Systems thinking: Recognising that high streets are complex ecosystems, The High Street Consultancy draws on principles such as partnership, leadership and stewardship, aligning with both government policy and lived local experience.
  • Adaptability: Our flexible working framework is intentionally designed for adaptation to various places, always linking interventions to broader social, economic, and well-being outcomes.
